General Services AdministrationOrganization

The General Services Administration (GSA), an independent agency of the United States government, was established in 1949 to help manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies. The Former President’s Executive Order and accompanying Open Data Policy – Managing Information as an Asset, issued on May 9, 2013, expand on the principles of Open Government to make the Federal government more open, transparent and collaborative with its citizens, stakeholders and the public. The policy requires that agencies open up new data and information, making them available in machine-readable formats.
